Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: Christmas means celebration of spirit of love, when love of God and the love of our fellow sisters and brothers prevail over all hatred and bitterness, when our thoughts and deeds and the spirit of our lives manifest the presence of God. We must also spare time to reflect on the essence of the period which is the love of God for humanity, said Governor Dr. S.C. Jamir.
Addressing the Christmas Celebration organized by Bhubaneswar Christian Community, Governor said, we should not get lost in the festivities the real purpose of celebrating Christmas. As we get ready to welcome Christmas let us think of thousands of families homeless, destitute who are torn with despair on this Christmas Eve. We all yearn for peace in our family, community and national life. Peace is not merely the absence of external trouble – it is also recognition of the presence of a savior who cares about human condition, reflected Governor. Let our prayer on the Christmas eve in 2016 is that our society would overflow with people who not only desire peace, but also are committed to become carriers and agents of peace to the world around them, Governor exhorted.
Rev. Chitta Ranjan Nayak, General Secretary, Bhubaneswar Christian Community, Rev. Fr. Prasanna Kumar Pradhan, Rev. G. Joykutty, Rev. Ayub Chhinchani among others spoke on the occasion. A cultural programme was staged on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. First Lady Alemla Jamir attended the celebration.
