Bhubaneswar Met Centre predicts heavy rainfall in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: August 16:  As per the Met Centre Bhubaneswar report, the western end of the monsoon trough runs along the foothills of the Himalayas and the eastern end now passes through Hardoi, Patna, Jamshedpur, Paradip and thence southeastwards to East central Bay of Bengal.

The cyclonic circulation over  West central & adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off south Odisha­, north Andhra Pradesh coasts  extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists.

Met Centre Bhubaneswar…

Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over Northwest & adjoining West central Bay of Bengal off Odisha, ­north Andhra Pradesh coasts during next 24 hours.

Light to moderate rain/ thundershower has occurred at most places over the districts of South Odisha, at a few places over the districts of North Odisha with Heavy Rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nuapara and Kalahandi of South Interior.

As predicted, from 1330 hrs IST of 16.08.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2021, heavy to very heavy rainfall  is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Nawarangpur, Rayagada and Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of   Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Balasore,  Keonjhar, Cuttack, Kalahandi, Kandhamal

From 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2021,heavy to very heavy rainfall  very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack and Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of  Sambalpur, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Angul,  Kalahandi, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam.

From 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 19.08.2021, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of  Bargarh,  Jharsuguda,   Sundargarh,  Sambalpur, Nuapada.
