Bhubaneswar: December 17: BJD announced to stage demonstration against the allegedly apathetic attitude of Centre towards Odisha’s demand for implementation of Swaminathan Committee recommendations. Also, Biju Janata Dal will press for hike the MSP (Minimum Support Price) of Paddy for the farmers of the State.
In a Press Meet, Biju Krushak Janata Dal (BKJD) President Prasanna Acharya and BKJD secretary general Pratap Jena informed that, all the BJD MPs, MLAs, Zilla Parishad members and party workers shall go to New Delhi boarding a special train on January 6 and demand for Odisha’s demand on January 8.
BJD leaders added, it would keep on protesting against centre’s negligence in materialising the unanimous resolution passed by the Odisha Assembly in connection with the demand of paddy MSP hike.
Notably, Odisha Assembly has passed a unanimous resolution demanding Rs 2,930 MSP to each farmer of Odisha for paddy per quintal.
Besides BKJD President Prasanna Acharya and Secretary General Pratap Jena, the press meet here was also addressed by BJD vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra, general secretary Sanjay Das Burma and MP Balabhadra Majhi.
