BJD alleges violating of code of conducts by BJP: Submits memorandum to SEC

Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: Alleging violation of the code of conduct for panchayat polls , a team of BJD members headed by Surya Narayan Patra, party vice-president, Biju Janta Dal (BJD) proceeded to the State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday.

BJD has made an allegation against the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) stating that BJP has been advertising its scheme on television channels to promote its party. A memorandum regarding this has also been submitted by the BJD. Indian Oil officials have been distributing gas cylinder in many areas in Odisha, the party alleged.

Patra stated, going against the code of conduct set by SEC the BJP has advertised its schemes like Swachh Bharat and UJALA in Odia TV channels.

While the Party has made a request to the SEC to stop broadcasting these, meanwhile, BJP has denied to comment on this matter. Samir Mohanty, BJP vice-president stated that, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) controlled the advertisements so the BJD should inform the matter to DAVP.
