Talcher, Aug 31: The battle between the BJP and BJD that began with workers of the ruling party throwing stones at two Union ministers in Bargarh last month yesterday reached Talcher with the councilors of the two parties engaging in a crash of words with each other at the meeting of the general body at the Talcher Municipality.

Some BJP councilors raised their voice against the Mayor of the civic body alleging that decisions taken by him are completely biased and accusing him of indulging in corrupt activities. They also demanded a thorough probe into the irregularities in the civic body and dismissal of the Mayor. Some BJD councilors opposed this and shouted at their counterpart that resulted in a spat between both the party councilors. In the meantime, the BJP councilors destroyed various documents there and boycotted the meeting. They later sat on a dharna in front of the office of the Municipality executive officer demanding dismissal of the mayor and transfer of executive officer. It is also alleged that media personnel were not allowed entry into the meeting.
