BJD declares candidates for 2 LS, 7 Assembly seats

Odisha Election: Naveen addressed public meetings in South Odisha

Bhubaneswar: April 2:  Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced the candidates for seven Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats for the upcoming elections.

Sitting Pallahara MLA Mahesh Sahu is BJD’s candidate for Dhenkanal Lok Sabha seat while Chandrani Murmu has been declared as the candidate for Keonjhar Lok Sabha seat.

For the Assembly seats, Rajya Sabha MP Soumyaranjan Patnaik will contest from the Khandapada assembly seat while Pranab Prakash Das will contest from Jajpur.

Former Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Jena will fight from Bhubaneswar Central while Susanta Rout will contest from Bhubaneswar North.

Ramesh Sai will contest from Athamallik, while Ashok Bal will fight from Korei and Mukesh Pal from Pallahara assembly constituency.

The BJD has now declared candidates for all 21 Lok Sabha seats. However, out of 147 Assembly seats, it is yet to announce candidates for Champua, Kendrapada and Baripada.

Odisha will go to polls for both the Lok Sabha and assembly seats in four phases – on April 11, 18, 23 and 29. (IANS)
