Bhubaneswar Dec 26: The ruling Biju Janta Dal (BJD) celebrated its 18th foundation day at party headquarters in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The foundation day was dedicated to farmers.
BJD supremo, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik along with party supporters, MLAs and ministers were present during the celebrations.
While addressing party workers, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said natural calamities are weakening the state’s economy and hurting farmers.
The party discussed the steps taken by the State government for the welfare of farmers.
Highlighting the state government’s role in mitigating the drought like situation, Patnaik said,“Odisha has announced drought package and Rs 10k crore loan assistance for affected farmers.”
Slamming the Opposition, Patnaik said BJD will continue to protest against central negligence.
With Odisha’s 100th birth anniversary slated to be celebrated in 2036, Patnaik said that preparations to mark the occasion will begin from 2016. A vision document- Odisha at 100- is being prepared to ensure holistic development of the state by 2036, he added.
The chief minister also informed that Biju Patnaik’s 100th birth anniversary will be celebrated next year and efforts will be made to mark the occasion from village to international level.
