BJD leaders unite at Delhi for the rights of the farmers’

New Delhi: January 08: Biju Janata Dal had organised ‘Krushak Adhikar Samabesh’ at Talkatora Stadium, Delhi today to demand for farmers’ rights. Speaking on the occasion, Naveen Patnaik said, ‘We all are united here for the rights of the farmers’.

Expressing his anguish over BJP-led centre, he said, ‘I have requested several times to centre for the hike of MSP (Minimum Support Price) for paddy. Assembly delegation has also tried to meet the central government. But, nothing has happened till day’.

Addressing a huge gathering including Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Leaders and Workers’ here at Delhi, BJD Supremo said, ‘BJP has forgotten its promises given to the farmers’ in its manifesto during last election. It is the responsibility of the centre to fix the MSP of food grains as well as implementation of Swaminathan Commission Report’.

Naveen also demanded for financial autonomy for Odisha. He said, ‘Had the centre granted financial autonomy to Odisha, we need not have to come to New Delhi’.

Several BJD MPs, MLAs, Leaders and Workers had staged Dharana in front of the Parliament House demanding a hike in MSP on Paddy to Rs 2930 per quintal.

He hailed performance of Government as it has delivered what it had promised to the people.  Also, speaking on the recently launched KALIA Yojana, he said, ‘the scheme is the best one for farmers’.
