Umerkote, Dec 13: Activists of BJP today staged roadblocks in the town, demanding compensation of Rs 5 lakhs and a pucca house under the Biju Pucca Ghara Yojana to the family of the deceased, who died of a land slide on Friday.

The blocks were staged near Jharigaon PS and bus stand in the town. The activists alleged that the state government is not showing any help towards Nabarangpur. Earlier when a bus carrying opera members fell into a gorge killing about 30 people, compensation of Rs 2 lakh was announced for the deceased’s family while no such steps were taken for the 12 deaths that occurred last year due to a road accident, said sources.

They warned the government of such bandh in near future if the compensation for the family of the trench collapse victim is not declared soon.

To be noted, on December 9th, three members of a family identified as Chandra Gouda, Radhika Gouda and Nikei Gouda had gone to dig earth, when the landslide occurred killing them at the spot at Siunaguda Village in the district.

3 others also sustained critical injuries.
