BJP state-wide agitation held down in view of Rabi Ray’s sad demise in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Mar 6: The State BJP today stopped its protest to attend the the one-day state mourning which is being observed across Odisha in view of the sad demise of former Lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray.

Notably, the BJP Krushak Morcha had called for state protest annoyed over the wrong information let out by the Agriculture Minister, Pradeep Maharathy over Bargarh farmer Hadu Bagarti’s suicide. State BJP president Basant Kumar Panda had informed that demonstrations will be held at all the District headquarters thus demanding Maharathy’s resignation.

On the other hand, Maharathy has ordered for a re-enquiry into the case and has instructed the Bargarh district Collector Anjan Kumar Manik to look into the matter personally and submit a report. Maharathy had landed into controversy for his statement in the Assembly on March 4. He had said the farmer had consumed poison after a quarrel with his wife and the cause of his death was not crop loss or debt burden. But the deceased’s wife denied of having any quarrel with her late husband before his death.
