Bhubaneswar, Mar 24: On Thursday, protesting the hike in electricity rates done by the OERC, in a Press Meet here, the Odisha President of BJP Yuva Morcha (BJPYM), Tankadhar Tripathy held the state government responsible and also alleged that instead of coming out with ways to provide more electricity to the far-flung areas, the government has put a hike in the tariffs. He elaborated that there are various ways of providing current both in the traditional and non-traditional methods but the government is instead increasing the burden of the consumers by hike in rates. In a way, it is constantly making the poor people’s lives more and more miserable and this new declaration  has made the people more annoyed. He further said that on behalf of all the Odisha citizens, the BJPYM will protest in all possible ways today in the state. Notably, a hike of average 1.44% in the electricity tariffs was initiated by the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) on Thursday.
