Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: Different political parties’ candidates have started filling their nomination papers from today for the upcoming Panchayat elections. The process has begun from 11 AM and will continue till 3 PM. The last date for filing the nomination papers is Jan 17, informed State Election Commission’s Secretary, Rabindra Nath Sahu. On Jan 18 the papers will be scrutinized. The Final list of candidates will be published after Jan 21 and so the candidates are allowed to withdraw their nomination papers till Jan 21.
Extension officer will collect the nomination papers for Sarpanch and ward member polls at the gram panchayat headquarters and for panchayat samiti polls, candidates’ nomination papers will be collected by Block Development Office (BDO), Sahu informed. Likewise, nomination papers for Zilla Parishad polls will be collected by a Sub-collector, ADM or PD, DRDA at sub-division or district level.
It may be noted that, the five phased panchayat polls will start from Feb 13 and will end on Feb 21.
