Bhubaneswar: June 06:  Crime Branch’s special wing to protect wild life took two accused, held for illegal poaching of elephants, to a five-day remand.

Nine elephant poacher were arrested from Kandara-Kacahpaju area under Puruna Cuttack Police limits in Boudh district on May 31 and sent to Jail custody with charges of poaching elephants. Crime Branch has taken two them on five day remand and have been brought to CB’s head office at Cuttack.

Notably, District Voluntary Force (DVF) spotted these poachers armed with lathis and weapons moving suspiciously inside the forest and informed the Police.  The team had seized two tusks cut into eight pieces, three country made guns, gun powder and axe from them.
