Bhubaneswar: The Special CBI court on Thursday granted Central Bureau of Investigation to take two top officials of Rose valley group of companies who were arrested in Kolkata in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scam in a seven-day remand for investigation.
Those arrested were Managing Director (MD) of Rose Valley group Shibamoy Gupta and Director Ashok Kumar Saha on a seven-day remand to interrogate them for their alleged involvement in the chit fund scam.
The agency had taken the duo on transit custody after order from a designated court in Kolkata to produce them in Bhubaneswar.
The Kolkata-based company is alleged to have duped investors through its 65 branches across the State.
State Crime Branch, had initially raided the company’s offices in June 2013 and its Economic Offences Wing had moved the Finance Department for confiscation of properties of the firm in June last year.
The property details included 17 acres of land in Balasore and Puri, bank deposits worth Rs 53 crore.
A special designated court in Cuttack in February this year had ordered for a public auction of the property and assets of Rose Valley Group and distribution of the sale proceeds among the depositors. The total value of attached properties, assets, deposits and cash is pegged at Rs 63.64 crore.
