Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would introduce the ‘Biju Kanya Ratna’ scheme with the tagline of “Amari jhia, amari shakti” (Our girls, our strength) on Saturday, an initiative taken by the State Government to ensure development of girls. The scheme would be piloted by the state women and child development department.
The scheme would be initially launched in Angul, Dhenkanal and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s home district Ganjam, where the child sex ratio is extremely low. The State Government has made provisions of Rs 3.5 crore for the launch of the scheme.
The scheme is expected to create an arena for girls that promotes equal opportunities, eliminates discrimination, and ensures empowerment through changes in societal attitude.
