Bhubaneswar: December 19: The Odisha government on Wednesday said the farmers affected by cyclone Phethai will be provided compensation after getting reports from district collectors.

“As per our estimation, there was crop loss due to the cyclone. We are waiting for crop assessment reports from the district collectors. The farmers will get assistance as per the government norms,” said Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty.

Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi said the district collectors are asked to submit crop assessment reports within seven days.

Farmers who have suffered 33 per cent damage are eligible for compensation. They will be provided agricultural input subsidy, he added.

Sethi asked the collectors that the croplands already declared affected by cyclone Titli, flood, landslide and drought during the current year will not be included in the current assessment. (IANS)
