Odisha Unit of Congress announced the name of Madhusmita Acharya as the party’s candidate for the post of Mayor in the upcoming BMC elections. This has been officially announced by Senior Congress leader Suresh Kumar Routray.
Madhusmita Acharya, former president of Kamala Nehru College, a young entrepreneur and sportsperson, is the daughter-in-law of former Congress MLA late Kangali Panda.
Congress had already announced the name of Giribala Behera as Mayor candidate for the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).
Voting for 106 Urban Local Bodies and three municipal corporations will be held on March 24, as per the notification issued by SEC.
The election to the posts of Vice Chairperson and Deputy Mayor will be held on April 7 and 8, 2022 respectively.
