Bhubaneswar: May 07: Congress legislators, led by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, on Saturday called on Governor SC Jamir at the Raj Bhawan here and submitted a memorandum demanding President’s rule in Odisha. Leaders demanded resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and removal of Chit Fund Commission head Justice MM Das, whose remarks create controversy since last few days.
Narasingha Mishra said, ‘We can’t tolerate the dictatorship of the ruling party. We have tried out level best to cooperate the speaker to run the house. But, Members of ruling party are not ready to cooperate with us. So we placed our demand before the Governor that President’s rule should be invoked in the State’. “As a Constitutional crisis has emerged in the State due to logjam in the House for the past four days, the chief minister must resign,” he added.
