Congress members demand reply from CM Odisha on the issue of distress sale of vegetables

Bhubaneswar: Feb 28: Congress Members today shouted slogans and created pandemonium in the state assembly on the issue of distress sale of tomatoes and other vegetables in State. Raising the issue of farmers’ protest in Keonjhar over distress sale of tomatoes in absence of required number of vegetable processing unit and cold storages, Members of Congress demanded Chief Minister’s reply. They also alleged that the farmers of Rayagada and Bargarh district had also faced similar situation earlier. Further, they demanded compensation for the vegetable growers. Unable to run the house, Speaker Niranjan Pijari adjourned the house twice.
