Bhubaneswar,Nov 6: With farmers’ suicides cases rising each passing day in the eastern Indian Odisha state, Opposition Congress party is staging demonstrations at all block offices on Friday.
The party has been targeting the Naveen Patnaik – led Biju Janata Dal Governmetn for its alleged failure in providing succor to the farmers who are having a torrid time due to crop lost as a result of deficient rainfall in the State this monsoon.
The party is demanding Rs 10 lakh compensation to the next of kin of those farmer who ended their lives reportedly due to loan burdens.
The party also decided to submit a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir over the farmer suicides and drought situation in the State.
