Bhubaneswar, Mar 9: The Odisha government from the current academic session will take over counselling for filling up of seats at all Private & deemed universities to regulate admissions into PG streams of Medical Colleges.
In a bid to do that, the state counselling authority will conduct the counselling for 50% seats of medical colleges under deemed universities.
Notably, earlier the counselling was done for both private and government medical colleges. But from further onwards it will also be carried out for the medical colleges under deemed universities.
As per a notification by the government, filling up of seats will be by counselling of candidates, as per their names in the PG (medical) State Merit List. While for the medical colleges in deemed universities, the seats will be filled up by counselling of candidates, as per their names in the All India Merit List. The same format of counselling for admissions will also be followed for both MBBS & BDS courses.
This process will bring transparency in the admission process as the counselling for the both private & deemed universities will be carried out as per the orders of the Supreme Court & MCI guidelines, said sources.
