Bhubaneswar, June 14: For allegedly duping a person on the pretext of providing LPG dealership under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Ujjwala Yojna, two persons were arrested by the cyber police of the State Crime Branch on Tuesday.
Identified as Rajesh Patel and Kanhaiya Sahani of Bihar, the accused had opened a fake website, through which they had advertised for the fake LPG dealership. With the scheme they had sought applications from individuals for the dealership. And as per the terms and conditions mentioned in the website Rabi Narayan Behera had fallen victim to the scheme and had payed an amount of Rs 11.92 lakh, thus getting cheated.
But soon later after getting to notice that the website, email address and other contact numbers have been blocked, Behera registered a case at the Cyber Crime Police Station.
On the other hand, after arresting the duo, it was found that, Rajesh had purchased 6 plots at a cost of Rs 54 lakhs in Kolkatta. Eight bank accounts with a deposit of Rs 9 lakhs was also found along with, the police has also seized 2 laptops, hard drives, pen drives and 24 ATM card from the arrested.
In the meanwhile, the duo are been produced at the Khurda court, while the investigation is still on to nab the others involved in the racket, said sources.
