Bhubaneswar, Aug 3: On Tuesday, even though the discussion over the waste dumping at Daruthenga between the police and the village peace committee was on, the villagers continued dharna at the dumping site. However, the meeting was not a success as the villagers are still reluctant to their demand of shifting the dumping ground from Bhuasuni to Tulasadeipur, while the BMC has disagreed to do so.

The villagers continued their dharna yesterday even when around 100 trucks moved to dump garbage at Bhuasuni, which were guarded by as many as 15 platoons of police force. According to the BMC, the high court had given it the permission to dump the waste only at Bhuasuni and if need be, then they would take the help of police to complete their work.

Previously, the government had sought a formula saying that the dumping would be shifted to Tulasadeipur and Bhuasuni will have a waste-to-energy plant. But the villagers refused to this and now just want waste dumping near their village stopped.
