Bhubaneswar: 62-year-old Sujata Panda, the daughter-in-law of Laxmi Indira Panda, the famous Paika rebel of Jeypore in Koraput district, panicked as she boarded the wrong train after receiving the much coveted award given by the PM at Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. In a sudden surge of fright, she attempted suicide by trying to jump on the railway tracks in Balasore station in the wee hours of Tuesday.

A student of Ravenshaw University, Debapriya Samal chanced to save her in the nick of time and handed her to the GRP officials.

According to the sources, Suvendhu Panda (70) and Sujata Panda (62), the son and daughter-in-law of the famous Paika leader had come to Bhubaneswar for the felicitation by PM Modi. On their journey back to the home village, both got separated in the Bhubaneswar station.

After searching for quite a long time for her missing husband, she boarded the wrong train (Utkal Express) instead of Hirakhand Express. Facing the language problem and having no knowledge regarding the route to her village, she finally got the message that she had taken the wrong route.

Notably, the lady had got very frightened and was lost, though in a better state now, but she still somehow is in fear & lost, as she doesn’t have any idea as to where is my husband, said sources.
