Death toll mounts to ‘100’ in Malkangiri due to Japanese Encephalitis

Malkangiri, Nov 11: With the death of two more children identified as Lilu Kumar Halua of Dangaguda village and Priti Sodhi of Solokonda area under Korakanda block in the Malkangiri district while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital, the death toll due to Japanese Encephalitis has mounted to 100 in the district on Friday morning.

Besides, one more kid identified as Barsa Pangi of Chaulagandi village in Malkangiri district reportedly succumbed to the disease today while undergoing treatment at Koraput hospital.

Notably, an eight member team of Ayush department visited Malkangiri district on Thursday to review the situation of the Japanese Encephalitis.

After reviewing the situation, the team informed that as many kids have been affected with malnutrition, plans are on to provide them homeopathy treatment to grow their immune power as this treatment has been successful in other States.

The proposal is under process with the State government and once it gets a green signal, the medicine will be distributed soon, Ayush expert team member informed.
