Malkangiri, Oct 17: Death toll due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) mounts to 58 in Malkangiri today with the death of two children identified as Rame Telam of Gorakhapali villager under Padia block and Debe Padiami of Telerai village under Kalimela block in the ICU of the district headquarters hospital while undergoing treatment.
With the death of these two today, the death toll in the district has mounted to 58 in the last 39 days.
On the other hand, around 115 children have been discharged from the hospital today after being cured, informed Joint Secretary of the Health Department. He said that awareness would be created among people so that they do not go to seek advice and treatment of JE from quacks.
