Bhubaneswar: July 07: Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the fasting month of Ramzan, was celebrated with gaiety and religious fervour across Odisha on Thursday.
Muslims of the state begin the celebration wearing new clothes and come out of their houses to greet each other with hugs and ‘Eid Mubarak’. Also, they are seen congregated at Eidgahs and Mosques to offer prayers. Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims. After offering the Eid Namaaz, they celebrate with family, friends, neighbours and community people, savouring and serving each other the festival special dish of ‘ sheer korma’, a sweet preparations of milk, vermicelli and dry fruits.
Special arrangements are made in the areas with sizeable Muslim population like Cuttack, Bhadrak and other places of the state.
