It’s a great relief for Kerala Government, as all eight samples of people having primary contacts of Nipah victim (12 yr old boy), are found to be negative, informed Kerala Health Minister Veena George.

The 8 samples include samples from the parents of the Nipah Victim and some heath professionals who have come in contact with the child during treatment.

By this time, the Kerala Health department has identified around 251 people who were in direct or indirect contact. From that list, samples of 8 were sent the NIV Pune lab, as they showed some symptoms of fever.

Rest contacts have bee advised to be in isolation.

A central team are now at Kozhikode and they are observing the situation with a team of  Kerala Health officials.
The last time the state had an attack of Nipah was in 2018, when 17 people lost their lives.
