Bhubaneswar, July 29: Yesterday, special team comprising of two from the Crime Branch reached the district to have an enquiry into the NTPC Land Scam. Crime Branch SP, Ramesh Behera informed that some of the villagers such as Ashok Raudia and Kishore Majhi belonging to the Lefripada block under Bhasma Police Station have alleged that they still have not received the compensation in connection to possession of their land by the state government for the proposed Super Thermal Power Project by the NTPC.
Notably, the District Collector had demanded of an enquiry as per the allegation which was put upon some villagers saying that they have been provided with compensation by submitting false land documents and had also directed police investigation against 76 villagers. However, some villagers later filed a writ petition in the Orissa High Court seeking its urgent intervention into the issue saying that they haven’t received any such compensation against the land which is acquired by the state government for the proposed project. Alongside they also said that the land documents which were submitted to the state government by them are said to be genuine.
