Enquiry by RDC on convoy of Union Ministers regarding BJD Attack

Bargarh, July 28: Revenue Divisional Commissioner of northern range, Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma on Thursday investigated into the attack on the convoy of Union ministers Santosh Gangwar and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti happening on June 24. At least 45 persons became the eye-witness of the incident. Sharma also spoke to officials of the district administration who had witnessed the attack. Notices have been sent to police officials, executive magistrate, and activists of BJP, BJD and Collector and SP of Bargarh those who have link to the incident. So far, 16 persons had been arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident and are now out on bail and 12 other persons, MLAs Devesh Acharya and Sushanta Singh, President of Sambalpuri Bastralaya Handloom Cooperative Societies Limited, Sambit Acharya, former district BJD President, Prabhaditya Mishra, Zilla Parishad member, Soubhagya Nayak and Chairman of Bargarh Municipality Prashanta Behera are on the list of the Case Diary of Police which is before the court. Two days back, the Orissa High Court asked the State government not to take any stern action against the MLA, Devesh Acharya.

Notably, on June 24, the BJD workers had attacked on the vehicle of Santosh Gangwar while he was on his way to attend a Vikas Utsav in Bargarh district. The minister, however, escaped successfully being uninjured.
