Bhubaneswar, Jan 7: It’s not a week even since the Bengaluru incident has happened that another similar incident has been reported here that posed some serious questions on women safety here. On Friday three girls were harassed by a group of youths on a busy road here. A case has been registered in the same and the cops have begun investigation based on the complaint filed by the victims.
The incident happened at the Magnet square in Patia here when the three girls along with one of their male friend were chit-chatting. All of a sudden, some youth came on a bike and passed some obscene remarks on the girls. Although the girls protested, the miscreants kept on passing comments on them and then drove away. Deciding to not be quiet and teach the hooligans a lesson, the four followed them on the Patia-Nandankanan road on two bikes. After following them for about a kilometer, the girls could not find them as the bikers had disappeared from the scene, forcing the girls to stop midway.
Once again from nowhere, some youths stated to be the friends of those hooligans came running towards the girls and began passing abusive comments on them. Soon a verbal duel ensued between us and suddenly one of the boys caught one of the girl’s hair and gave a blow on the backside of her neck. After that, when the girl somehow managed to slip from his clutch and tried to take the video of the incident, the youth dashed the girl’s mobile phone on the road. When the girls protested them, the youths began physically harassing them.
Then the girls filed a complaint at the Nandankanan police following which the police have launched a manhunt to catch the culprits.
