Bhubaneswar, Mar 21: Today in connection to the fake currency racket busted in Salia Sahi last week here, the Commissionerate police arrested Rajkishore Tudu who is the mastermind behind this racket. Police was being tipped about Tudu’s arrival at the railway station from Chennai and accordingly the investigation team prepared themselves to nab him. Notably, Tudu had escaped to Tamil Nadu from the time the racket was busted by police.
Tudu informed the police of the Baripada area that another youth named ‘Phagu’ had taught him the art of making fake notes. Phagu also gave him Rs 16500 fake notes and had promised to pay Rs 8,000 if he could run the racket. The police last week seized equipment used for making counterfeit notes after raiding a house in the biggest slum area here. A police team from Baripada in Mayurbhanj jointly with the commissionerate police had carried out the raid. The police had seized papers used in printing fake currency notes, colour printer and cartridge from the spot. The police had got a clue about printing of fake currency notes in the state after it arrested a college student from Baripada on Mar 9 named Shagen Tudu. He was caught while trying to use fake note of Rs 500 at a shop in Sunagadia area. Around 32 fake notes of the same denomination of Rs 500 were seized. While interrogation, Shagen revealed that he had got the notes from a friend in Patia area here.
