Fire mishap destroys lakhs of properties near Ravenshaw University in Cuttack

Cuttack, May 4: Yesterday late night a fire broke out near the Ravenshaw University here destroying lakhs of property including shops, two cars, a Maruti WagonR and a Maruti Swift that were parked near the shops. The fire had broke out in a plastic product shop of some Sridhar Sahu at around 1.30 am and it later spread to another shop having Puja items. Upon being intimidated, the fire brigade officials immediately reached the spot and extinguished the flames along with the locals. The shop owner, Sahu stated to media that a student informed him about the incident at 1.20 am but by the time he arrived at his shop, all things were burnt to ashes. Around Rs5-6 lakh property have been destroyed. Although the exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained but it is suspected that the fire may have been caused because of a short circuit.
