Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: To work out the modalities for the implementation of 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations, the fitment committee will submit its report in four months to the government.

The committee will consist of 6 members and will be head by R Balkrishnan, Development Commissioner. The other members of the committee will include Asit Tripathy, Home Secretary, Suresh Mohapatra, Forest and Environment Secretary, Tuhinkant Pandey , Finance Secretary,  AK Meena and Aswini Mishra, Special secretaries of Finance department.

Notably, the State Government has decided for the implementation of the 7th pay commission’s recommendation that would benefit around 4 lakh State government employees and above 3 lakh pensioners.

Headed by Justice A K Mathur, the 7th pay commission had recommended 23.55 percent increase in pay, allowance and pensions of central government employees in effect from January 1 this year.

However, as per an official approximation, around Rs 5,500 crore will be required annually for this pay revision. Presently, Rs 29,836 crore is being spent annually by the State government for the salaries and pensions of the employees.
