Forest officials rescue elephant calf

Berhampur (Odisha), Apr 23: A two-year old elephant calf was on Saturday rescued by forest department officials at Pandakholo jungle under Sorada forest range in Ganjam district.

The two-year old male calf appeared unwell and was unable to walk. Veterinary surgeons along with forest officials rushed to the spot and started his treatment.

All efforts are on to save the calf, said senior forest department officials.

He ruled out the possibility of the calf suffering from sun stroke due to scorching heat in the area.

Sources said around 24 elephants, divided in different herds, are roaming in the area.
