Former police DG Shyam Narayan Tiwari passes away

Bhubaneswar: August 5: Former police DG Shyam Narayan Tiwari passed away. He died at the age of 81. For a long time, he was suffering from cancer and was being treated at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.  After graduating from Allahabad University, he joined the IPS in 1963. He was in  various key positions in the state police and central security agencies. Mr. Tiwari had also led almost all departments of the Odisha Police Force and the Central Police Organization. S.N. Tiwari successfully served as Director General (Intelligence), Director (Jail), Director (Intelligence), DG Police, and has also served as Joint Secretary, Intelligence Bureau during his Central Deputation. Tiwari was the first and only police officer in Odisha to serve as the director of the SPG. His expertise in internal security and anti-Naxal operations was highly commendable. Odisha Police Director General Abhay mourned the death of Tiwari.
