Mumbai/Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: Fraud in certificates is increasing day by day in the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) as again the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has banned around 19 cricketers from the State in charges of tampering with their age proofs. OCA Secretary Asirbad Behera confirmed the ban to the media. The BCCI has banned 12 players from the under-19 team and 7 women cricketers yesterday as their ages mentioned in the document did not match with the age mentioned in the affidavits submitted now. Those seven women are Banalata Mallick, Sushree Dibyadarsini, Pragya Paramita Mohanty, D Janaki Reddy, Sasmita Mahalik, Shilpa Swain and Sarojini Giri and the 12 players of the Under-19 Odisha Cricket team banned for 1 year are Suraj Singh, Khyamasagar Bal, Pratyush Mohapatra, Suryakant Samal, Harshit Rathore, Rajesh Mohanty, Dhirendra Singh, Nishikant Rout, Dibyaranjan Sahoo, Sourav Gouda, Biswajeet Das and Sunil Roul. BCCI has also served show cause notices to four Ranji players of the state in connection with the tampering of the age proof certificates. They are Alok Sahu, Ashutosh Das, Rajesh Dhupar and Shubham Nayak. Apart from this the age proof provided by them for Junior and Senior team selections were also found to be repugnant.
Few days back, names of six male players of the under-19 cricket team of Odisha named Suryakanta Samal, Khyamasagar Bal, Sooraj Singh, Pratyush Mohapatra and Harshit Singh were cut off after finding fraudulent notions in their date of birth which were provided by the players in the last and current season. They were terminated and sent back, thus withheld from playing for the East Zone Vinoo Mankad Trophy in Jharkhand.
