Bhubaneswar: Prices of fuels will be reduced at nine places in Odisha as the oil marketing companies (OMCs) have decided to rationalise intrastate freight. This will reduce retail price disparities within states, barring the poll-bound regions.

Announcing the decision in his X handle, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said that intrastate freight adjustments will benefit consumers in remote areas as it will result in a decrease in petrol and diesel prices in several parts of the country. In his post, Puri said, “In Kunanpally & Kalimela in Odisha’s Malkangiri petrol price will reduce by Rs 4.69 & Rs 4.55; and diesel price will reduce by Rs 4.45 & Rs 4.32, respectively….”

Petrol and diesel will also get reduced in Odisha’s  Gondhipally, Nandapur, Maliput, Ramgiri, Badasaga, Raigarh and Jharigram. The OMCs also announced a revision in the dealer margins, effective from October 30, 2024. But the decision will have no impact on retail selling price of fuels.
