Cuttack, Sep 9: A group clash between villagers of Kalapathar and some youths of nearby Khajuripada during Ganesh idol immersion procession at Kalapathar Bazar under Baideswar police limits here on Sept 7 took a violent turn yesterday as bombs were hurled at the market in which more than three persons sustained injuries. The villagers had opposed the procession which led to a scuffle between the two groups. The villagers attacked the youth and vandalized several shops at the market belonging to some people of Khajuripada.

Tension gripped the market yesterday as bombs and stones were hurled from both the sides. More than three persons of both groups were injured in the bomb explosions. While two shops were gutted in fire, three stores were damaged. Section 144 of CrPC was clamped at Kalapathar Bazar following the incident. Four platoons of police force have been deployed at the spot to avoid further untoward incident.
