Group clash over ‘Dola’ procession kills 2 and injures 4 in Salepur, Odisha

Salepur, Mar 15: A group clash occurred over the ‘Dola’ procession at Pasulunda village here killing two including a woman and injuring four others. The name of persons are Laxmidhara Jena and his sister Anu Jena. They could not survive to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the SCB hospital in Cuttack while the four injured are getting better at the hospital. Subash Chandra Jena, an injured, elaborated on the incident and said that while the Dola procession, members of a family, which was banished by the village, forcefully offered ‘bhoga’ to the deity following which other villagers of the village outraged by this declined to take part in the procession on Monday. However, after intervention from the local police, the matter got solved. But yesterday the members of the same family along with some other associates attacked some villagers in the afternoon injuring four persons and killing two. He further stated that no police complaint has been filed yet. In the meantime, the local administration deployed one platoon of police force to maintain law and order in the affected area.
