Bhubaneswar: So far, seven people including District Social Security Officer (DSSO), Secretary and sewing instructor of Divyang training centre have been detained by the police for allegedly involvement in sexual harassment of Divyang women.
After a woman employee of the Odisha Orthopedically Handicapped Welfare Association (divyang training centre), here in Palaspalli, registered a complaint, at Airfield police station, alleging that the centre is running a sex racket where several government officials also visit and sexually exploit the inmates.
Odisha commission for person with disabilities took an action without formal prompting into the allegations of sexual harassing of divyang women.
The commissionerate arrested Madhu Manjari Dhal (sewing instructor at centre) leads to prime accused of the case Sangram Keshari Das (DSSO), Suresh Chandra Behera (secretary of divyang centre), Rakesh Ku. Sarangi, Umesh Ch. Routray, Basanti Sahoo, Sanjukta Meher, Said Bhubaneswar DCP, Umashankar Dash.
A case no- 40 has been lodged at Airfield Police station following charges, u/s 370/120(B) IPC/3/4/5/6/7 of ITP Act / 67/67(A) IT Act/6 of Indecent Representation of Woman Act.
