Bhubaneswar, April 7: In the wake of outbreak of Jaundice in parts of Cuttack, the Health Department has issued an eight point guidelines to Executive Engineers of PHDs of all the cities in the State.
The guidelines includes directions for restarting the closed treatment plants while finishing the construction of undergoing ones, appointing skilled operators in plants, replacement of leaked pipe lines as soon as possible, keeping the pressure high enough during the water supply, cleaning the tape stand area, ensuring proper amount of chlorination and other purification measures.
It also asked the District Administrations to undertake regular inspection of the intake points and submission of the reports to the concerned authorities, cleaning overhead tanks on a regular basis, inspection of water quality samples, keeping in touch with the health department, district administration, and municipal administration on daily basis.
Besides, it also emphasizes on keeping strict vigil in areas prone to the disease and from where jaundice cases have been reported.
