Heatstroke death toll increases to 4 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 13: Rainfall has occurred at isolated places over South Odisha and weather has been dry over North Odisha. Chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are R. Udayagiri (Gajapati), Aska (Ganjam). Maximum temperatures observed no large change over Odisha. They were above Coastal Odisha and normal over Interior Odisha.

The highest maximum temperature of 43.00 degree celsius was recorded at Bolangir and Titlagarh and the lowest minimum temperature of 21.00 degree celsius was recorded at Sundargarh in the plains of Odisha.

Having a partly cloudy sky, Odisha’s capital city and neighbourhood are likely to experience a maximum and minimum temperature of 41 and 27 degree Celsius respectively on Saturday.

The maximum and minimum relative humidity is to be 89% and 49% respectively.  On Sunday, rainfall, thunderstorms with a gusty surface wind to prevail over South Odisha while weather most likely to be dry over North Odisha. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, weather to be dry over Odisha and heat wave condition to prevail over parts of Interior Odisha. On Thursday, the reverse of Sunday’s condition will occur. As per the weather forecasters, there will be an increase in temperature from May 18.

For the farmers, rainfall, thunderstorms with a gusty surface wind to prevail over South Odisha while weather most likely to be dry over North Odisha.

Odisha this year has recorded altogether 4 sunstroke deaths. A person died at Angul here on Friday. This is the second heatstroke death to be reported from Angul while two others had died at Sonepur and Dhenkanal earlier.
