Bhubaneswar, April 8: The eviction drive in the Trahi Achyuta Ashram in Jhiinti Sasan near Balakati, 25 km from here, was halted Thursday by the Orissa High Court. The High Court directed the Balianta Tehsildar to identify the encroached land by the Ashram within a day. The eviction drive and demolition of structures on the encroached land will be initiated again after the identification of the land, ordered the High Court.
A team of officials, led by local Tehsildar along with police personnel, had started the eviction and demolition process in the area on Wednesday. Various structures on an area of one acre land were demolished including the Post Office lying in 42 dismal area, Dola Mandap, Pothi Gruha and medical building.
Ashram chief Sura Baba alias Surendra Mishra along with his two sons Trilochan and Biranchi are currently lodged in jail on the allegation of various frauds and encroachment of Government land.
