Hinjli, Apr 1: The local police team of Odisha rescued the youth from Kolkata who was abducted on Mar 29 and inturn arrested two persons for their involvement in the youth’s kidnapping case. They have bought the two on transit remand from Kolkata and are being interrogated. The police have arrested Ankur Ray of Kolkata and Rajkishore Andyia of Balasore. The cops managed to rescue the youth Pratap Kumar Patnaik from a locality in Kolkata by tracking the mobile phones and checking the call records. A sum of Rs 2 lakh as ransom was demanded from Pratap’s family members for his release by the kidnappers. Pratap’s wife lodged a FIR at the Hinjili PS on Mar 30. She stated that her husband was kidnapped at 1 pm on Mar 29 by two persons while she was away from home.
Pratap, the former staff of Berhampur office of Patel Roadways stated to media that the two kidnappers forcefully took him on a bike from his house to the Berhampur railway station and then to Kolkata. He was kept locked and was thrashed severely. The kidnappers demanded Rs 2 lakh as ransom money and gave him a mobile phone to call his family and ask for the money. He further stated that the two kidnappers were Ankur, the area manager of Patel Roadways and Rajkishore.
On the other hand, Prashant Kumar Sahu, IIC of Hinjili police station stated that a special police team had been constituted to crack the kidnapping case. As per the primary investigation, the motive behind the abduction is suspected to be extortion.
