Sambalpur, Sept 15: Two more sluice gates of the Hirakud Dam had been opened to release the flood water on Thursday for the third time, as excessive rain in the upper side of Mahanadi has increased the water level in the reservoir.
As per the information, around 12 sluice gates have been made open to let out the excess flood water.
At 6 am the water level of the dam was at a height of 624.89 feet. It’s stated that while 1, 98,598 cuses of water is currently entering the dam, on the other hand, 2, 13, 689 cuses of water is released. Further no possibility of flood arises with the release of the excess water.
Looking upon the situation, the decision to open more gates or not will be decided.
