Hospitals in Odisha suffers from unavailability of required staffs

Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: On Friday, during the assembly session, the state Health and Family Welfare minister, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak stated about the current health care service of the State.

1085 Odisha Medical and Health Service cadre post out of the 4877 approved post are lying vacant in government hospitals along with this, 272 homeopathic medical officers’ posts and 199 ayurvedic medical officers’ post till now are lying vacant in the State. This was stated by Nayak as a reply to BJP MLA Dilip Ray’s question.

Around 231 teaching staff and 462 non-teaching staff of three government medical colleges are yet to be filled up.

78 and 19 teaching and non-teaching posts respectively are lying vacant in the three government Ayurvedic colleges. In case of government homeopathic colleges, 95 and 29 teaching and non-teaching post respectively are lying vacant in four colleges, Nayak further informed in the house.

Adding more into this, he said that 1161 attendants posts, 60 junior radiographer, 160 pharmacist, 149 junior laboratory technician posts are lying vacant in government hospitals in the State.

To fill up the vacant posts, all necessary steps are being taken by government and the concerned authorities, the minister said.
