Bhubaneswar: September 28: BJD Legislators started shouting at their respective seats against centre showing various media reports that, NABARD agreed to fund Polavaram dam. Notably, on 27th September, Union Minister of State Y.S.Chowdhury said, ‘The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has in principle agreed to fund the entire Polavaram Project.’
Ruling BJD in Odisha has reacted on the statement in the state assembly during the question hour today, which forced the speaker to adjourn the House till 3 pm. BJD has alleged that, the centre has been playing with the sentiments of dalit tribals of Odisha. BJD spokesperson Dibyasankar Mishra said, ‘This anti-tribal attitude of centre is unfortunate. A vast patch of Odisha’s tribal dominated areas will be submerged if the Project is undertaken.’
BJP MLA Pradip Purohit said, ‘ NDA government is only implementing what had been undertaken by UPA government. So, the Centre has nothing to do with Polavaram’.
