Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: After a meeting at the State Secretariat here on Wednesday, School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra informed the media persons that the High School Certificate (HSC) Examination 2017 will be held in February last week.
School and Mass Education Secretary Ranjana Mishra and other senior officers attended the meeting.
He said that after a meeting with the Board of Secondary Education examination committee today afternoon, the dates for the examination will be fixed.
He further informed that the Plus Two Examinations 2017 of the three streams would begin in the first week of March.
Notably, as the panchayat polls are due in February next year, which is usually the time when the HSC examinations are held, the students and parents were apprehensive of delay in the examination schedule.
As no examination can be conducted during the election, as schools are used as voting booths and the teachers will be engaged in the election process, State Election Commission (SEC) Secretary had earlier informed that the School and Mass Education Department and BSE have been asked to fix a convenient date to hold the HSC examination next year so that the future of about 6 lakh students appearing for the examination does not suffer and the Panchayat poll can also be conducted smoothly.
