8 People Dead, Dozen Houses Torn Apart, Electricity Outage: Hurricane IDA
New York: Hurricane Ida has created massive destruction and wrecked havoc in the US states of New York & New Jersey. The Hurricane, that started on Sunday has taken the life of 8 people so far, ,being 7 from New York city and 1 from New Jersey.
According to reports, the Pacific city mayor, Hector C. Lora taking to the media said, while reviewing the situation in and around the city saw the body of a 70-year-old man taken out of flood water. Emergency has already been declared in both the state. In New York city, 4 people of the same house drowned and died in the flood.
In the meanwhile, Airports have been flooded with reports of 3.24 inch record rainfall witnessed in the states. Flights to these two states are currently being diverted or suspended, report. However, some essential flights are being run. Hurricane Ida had led to a massive power outage in the states. As per reports, 1 lakh homes in Pennsylvania and 50 thousand homes in New Jersey are out of power. Few dozen houses have also been destroyed. Roads have flooded and destroyed badly.
In New York, the Subway line, along with 18 other transit rail services have been suspended. Except the emergency vehicles, non other are being allowed to ply on the roads. On the other hand, the met department has also issued warnings of heavy rains across Philly and northern New Jersey.
